After launching the initial capital campaign with a third-party fundraising expert, the parish decided to go it alone to raise the remaining $2 million dollars with the help of events and these promotional brochures detailing why the Faith Formation Center was necessary as well as the fundraising success to date.

During the Faith Formation capital campaign, parishioners expressed a need for more transparency regarding finances. At the same time, the parish was transitioning into a Stewardship Parish, which changed the idea of fundraising all together. The annual report not only provided the detailed financial report (on the last page), but it also highlighted the many ministries’ activities in the past year, grouped by the four stewardship pillars: service, hospitality, prayer and formation.

Following the building construction, the balance due for the Faith Formation construction was paid for with an external financial institutional loan, a first in the archdiocese. But the five-year note would come due before the incoming offertory funds applied to payments could pay it off. A small group was formed and met one night, deciding the way to convince parishioners to double down on the loan payoff was to see beyond the debt, to “Dream Big” about which capital improvement should happen AFTER paying off the Faith Formation Center. Surveying the parish, the committee thought only a dozen replies would be returned; ultimately nearly 180 responses were returned, which led to many competed projects following the debt elimination, including a $2 million gymnasium.
