ADVERTISING/PAID MEDIA (1997-2024)
Examples of print (paid) and association newsletter (sponsorship) display advertising that I designed and wrote.
CLIENT SURVEYS (2015-2020)
Results of the 2017 “RhinOpinion Survey” of clients, with a better than 10 percent response rate; sample email invite.
CORPORATE WRITING SAMPLES (2005-2023)
Examples of ghost-written articles, blogs, online attorney spotlight pages, a white paper and collateral, drafted, heavily edited and/or written entirely by me.
DIRECT MAIL (2006-2020)
Post card campaign and pop-up holiday card, which used characters drawn by a local artist since 2003; larger annual cards always stood out at client office holiday card displays (before COVID-19).
EMAIL EXAMPLES (2005-2024)
As a means for directing clients and prospects to articles and then assessing the value of those placements, email campaigns were developed following an article placement and often in conjunction with social media posts. Emailed to internally developed contact lists, click-thru and click-open detail showed market interest and real readership statistics. Also sent were event notifications/invitations.
COMPANY IDENTITIES AND OTHER GRAPHIC DESIGNS (1995-2022)
Logos and other imagery.
PLANS AND DASHBOARDS (2005-2024)
Examples of earned, social and paid media dashboards; a telemarketing report (for a national accounting firm!); monthly file count report for leadership; an attorney marketing plan and results-to-date report; a client CE training dashboard; and, a communication plan for the Portland State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS):
In light of a university-wide Identity Project/Marketing Plan underway at the time for Portland State University, the CLAS Task Force recognized that CLAS could not wait for the conclusion of the Identity Project to promote itself. We realized that CLAS could go ahead with a similar project and that a CLAS plan–and results–would also align itself with the results of the university-wide Identity Project once completed.
Campaign reports and dashboards for leadership demonstrated marketing effectiveness and return on investment. Longshore due diligence plan to build longshore claims defense practice (2014).
PROPOSALS, WHITE PAPER, LONG-FORM DOCUMENTS (2005-2020)
Examples include a proposal for Grant Thornton, a proposal for Reinisch Wilson Weier, a medical bill review white paper, an R&D tax brochure for Grant Thornton.
PRINT COLLATERAL (2001-2020)
Examples of corporate brochures, holiday cards, a pro bono school auction book and a pop-up book about leasing:
Over coffee I talked about a pop-up with the principal at our ad agency BLW+Associates and the project was born! Designed as the end of a three-part direct mail campaign (preceded by two postcards), the book put capabilities and testimonials into the hands of potential customers who would likely keep our book—and our name—around longer than just a brochure. The design and illustrations enhanced our “Gas Guy” imagery, a 1950s-era gas station attendant who conveyed old time service.
PUBLIC RELATIONS/EARNED MEDIA (2010-2024)
Examples of articles I either ghost-wrote or heavily edited and proactively promoted to media contacts I developed; also included are pitch emails and press releases.
Grant Thornton ramped up placements from very sporadic to nearly 50 articles and releases annually in business publications around the region, which also increased partner and manager interest in contributing articles.
SOCIAL MEDIA (2022-2024)
Examples of posts and images for LinkedIn posts plus my social media dashboard reflecting just the first six months of 2024.
As part of an application process, I was asked to create Facebook, Instagram and X posts about the then-upcoming swearing-in of the new Oregon Attorney General. Click here to view. (These were NOT posted.)
WEBSITE DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT (2001-2022)
Page examples of the Reinisch Wilson Weier website, a WordPress site, which I managed for eight years. Also included are examples of two site redesigns, restructuring the Qmedtrix site for more impactful UX (during which I learned how much I dislike Drupal!) and the rebranding of the Petroleum Capital site:
Petroleum Capital’s local agency, BLW+Associates was tasked to rebranded site to match collateral designs and illustrations to enhance our “Gas Guy” imagery, a 1950s-era gas station attendant who conveyed old time service.
